A friend and I decided to try Fish and Camaron this past Sunday.  We arrived around 2:00PM and were pleasantly surprised to see how busy they were.  To me, this was a very good sign that we were about to enjoy some tasty food.  We went to the counter, where I asked Jose what he recommended.  His reply summed up our visit perfectly: “Everything!”  After we placed our orders we took our Free beer (YES you read that correctly – FREE!) out to one of the picnic tables on the sidewalk. Not 10 minutes later Jose was delivering our orders and the aroma had our mouths watering.

We started off with the Tostada Ceviche.  Excellent flavors!  The ceviche was cooked exactly right and the lettuce and shredded carrots were out-of-this-world fresh.  I added a little Creamy Chipotle Sauce to mine and my friend added the Chamoy Sauce to hers. Winner Winner Ceviche Dinner!!

I then dove into my Chipotle Fish Tacos.  The fish had a very nice flavor and had the right amount of flakiness. The fresh Cilantro only added to it.  My friend ordered the Pastor Shrimp Tacos. The shrimp really soaks up all the seasonings that are used. She was amazed at how wonderfully the pineapple enhanced the shrimp. No extra sauce required for those!

As we relaxed and finished off our second beer, just savoring the flavors that were playing in our mouths, we decided we couldn’t leave without sampling their Vuelva A La Vida – fancy name for Ceviche & Shrimp Cocktail.  This appealed to my taste buds immediately! It was a perfect balance of shrimp and ceviche along with tomatoes, cilantro, avocados, olive oil and their signature cocktail sauce.  The house-made tortilla strips proved to be a great slurping companion for this savory dish.

Because I was still daydreaming about that tostada from earlier, I decided I needed one to-go so I could enjoy it later.  They packaged it so that the tostada didn’t get soggy – which I extremely appreciated and think some other restaurants could learn from. And because a true Texan has to have some heat with their meals, I paired this one with the 5 Alarm Habanero. WOWZERS! It lives up to its name and couldn’t be more delicious!! (Keep a gallon of sweet tea nearby!!)

A new location will be opening at the end of May on Kuykendahl Road near Creekside. This location will be larger, with about 30 tables and have more of a sports bar feel with large screen TVs. They will also be selling beer and wine at this location. Can’t wait to try it out!

All in all – we had a very good experience with fantastic food and outstanding service. Another spot to add to my regular list.
