Chicago’s Famous Fried Chicken & Fish is located on Westheimer, in between S. Dairy Ashford and S. Kirkwood in Southwest Houston. The authentic Chicago style chicken here is not for the faint of heart. The juicy and crispy chicken still has my mouth watering. One more thing… the sauce is boss!
When you walk through the doors at Chicago’s Famous Fried Chicken & Fish, the first thing you hear is the crackling of fried chicken and fish in the background. The aroma fills the air and there is no doubt your life is about to get a lot better. The fast-casual atmosphere is simple, clean and casual. The perfect place to get in and out if you are looking for a quick lunch or dinner. They also have a nice seating area if you want to hang out a bit and chop it up with friends. It’s the best of both worlds.
Chicago’s Famous Fried Chicken & Fish has a nice selection of menu items. Everything on the menu looks amazing, but on our trip, we kept it to Fried Chicken Wings, Catfish, Chicken Thighs, Chicken Tenders, Gizzards and Shrimp. Our sides included French Fries, Coleslaw and Breaded Okra. The Breaded Okra was my favorite of all the sides. You can’t go wrong with any of the menu items we chose, but my two favorites were the Fried Chicken Tenders and the Fried Catfish & Wing Combo!
If I have said it once, I have said it a million times… If I say I don’t like it fried, I lied. At a younger age I always had to get my chicken bone-in. It seems as I get older, I have really started to enjoy Chicken Tenders a little bit more. To be honest I am not sure why, but it is what it is, I guess. The Chicken tenders at Chicago’s Famous Fried Chicken & Fish were as good as any I have ever tasted. The fabulous fried chicks were golden brown and super-hot coming fresh out of the fryer. Not greasy at all, but just fried to perfection. I drizzled the famous Chicago Style Sauce on them and bam! We were off to the races. Each bite was so juicy, and the crunch left me wanting more. Amazing is an understatement.
Next up was the Fried Catfish & Wing Combo. I’m not sure that this isn’t my go-to here at Chicago’s Famous Fried Chicken & Fish. The Catfish is so fresh it tastes like it was swimming in the lake earlier that morning… for real! There was no fishiness that you find at some restaurants, it was just like mama use to make. The beautiful thing about the combo is you can try the Fried Chicken Wings as well! You know I had to drizzle some more of that famous Chicago Style Sauce on them. The Chicken Wings have the same crispy goodness I have learned to expect here at Chicago’s Famous Fried Chicken & Fish. And you know I like that!
I have always enjoyed Fried Chicken, Catfish… well, I guess everything fried. Ha! But Chicago’s Famous Fried Chicken & Fish here in Southwest Houston is simply a little bit different, a little bit better. If you need a fried fix, then you need to go visit my new Houston hotspot. Oh, yeah, and don’t forget the sauce is boss! Enjoy!
