World of Beer has two locations in Houston, one in Katy and the spot I just checked out in Sugar Land. World of Beer is exactly what you’d expect from the name. It offers a wide variety of Top Texas Craft Beer as well as the best beer to be found from the finest breweries in the world! With over 550 beers to choose from, I reckon you’re gonna find one you like.
World of Beer in Sugar Land is sweet, to say the least. It sits just steps from the First Colony Mall – which makes it a great place to hang out, watch sports, grab a bite and enjoy the best beer from around the world… while that special someone does a little shopping.
World of Beer is not only a man’s paradise, but a favorite for women as well! Since my first visit, I have enjoyed many a Top Texas Craft Beer with female friends who would agree.
The environment is open and inviting with a huge patio, a large bar area and high-top tables throughout. There’s no danger you’ll miss any of the sports action either. In the middle of the complex, just behind the stage, are a number of monitors that fit together to form a huge screen… the effect is incredible! There’s also high definition flat screens which can be viewed from anywhere in the place. This place is a must, come football season.
World of Beer has a loyalty program where they reward you for trying as many different beers as you can. What a concept! You get to enjoy different beers from all over the world and receive gifts for doing so. Not a bad deal – and you even get a shirt for signing up!
The knowledgeable staff is what makes the World of Beer a special place to enjoy craft beer. I appreciate the fact that every staff member has received an extensive education of the various brews being served. The staff can easily answer any questions you might have about the different beers and are able to offer great tips as to which one should be paired with any one of their good eats!
Finding myself with a tonnage of craft beer to choose from, I ordered a Top Texas Craft Beer flight. This consisted of Karbach Hoppadillo, Saint Arnold Ellissa IPA, 8th Wonder Rocket fuel and a No Label Brewing El Hefe Weizen. All were great choices, for sure.
The menu is certainly top notch as well. Along with my Top Texas Craft Beer Flight, I ordered the German Pretzel, the Margherita Flat Bread and the Sriracha Lime Shrimp Tacos.
The German Pretzel, a giant Bavarian pretzel baked soft on the inside, crispy on the outside and salted, is a go-to here at World of Beer. It comes with your choice of mustard: Dijon, honey Dijon, yellow or spicy brown. I chose to get it with all of the above along with a side of House-Made Beer Cheese. Delish! I forbid you to eat this pretzel without the Beer Cheese; it makes this app into something extra special. It is suggested to pair the German Pretzel with a Pale Lager.
Next up was one of my favorites – the Margherita Flat Bread: a delicious bread base spread with basil and pine nut pesto, covered with freshly diced tomato and mozzarella, drizzled with a sweet balsamic glaze and topped with fresh arugula. The flat bread was so light and crispy allowing for the full flavor of the sweet balsamic glaze to come through and mesh perfectly with those of the fresh tomato and cheese. This combo was extremely good and was perfectly paired with a Belgian golden.
And last, but definitely not least, were the Sriracha Lime Shrimp Tacos. This delightful dish consisted of two beer-battered shrimp tossed in house-made Sriracha lime aioli, topped with roasted corn and tomato salsa, shredded lettuce and fresh cilantro – all packed into a fresh tortilla. The vegetables here are super-fresh making for a taco that is nothing short of awesome! Having lived in San Diego, I have enjoyed great Baja Mexican fare and these shrimp tacos are up there with the best. All in all, this dish is a wonderful choice to savor with an Imperial IPA of your choice.
Instead of World of Beer, this place should really be named World of Beer and Good Eats! It is sure to become one of my favorite new spots to hang, for sure. There really is nothing better than spending Craft Beer Friday at a great craft beer joint which also serves good eats! If you want to find me, there is a good chance I will be at the World of Beer in Sugar Land! See ya soon…
