When British ex-patriot Paul “Buff” Burden met the love of his life, Sara, he moved to Texas with a dream to start a burger joint that would serve delicious, healthier burgers.  He did research; made notes on burgers from around the world; checked on great sources for local organic beef and vegetables; and located top-notch local craft beers.  He carefully chose a location near Spring Branch with good frontage space. All of his choices led to the creation of BuffBurger.

Burgers au naturale are sustainably made and full of flavor. Forty-four farms supply the beef needed to create their one-of-a-kind hamburgers. They also have a proprietary seasoning blend that brings out the flavor in the burgers.  The lettuce is a fresh, whole leaf variety.  They serve thin, house cut shoestring style fries in regular or truffle parmesan varieties that are so tasty and brimming with that truffle essence.  Or if you prefer something greener for your side, they also have a steamed edamame with a tangy dipping sauce that I enjoyed tremendously.

However, the true star of the show are the burgers!  The beef is tender, juicy and full of meaty goodness.  You can order the namesake BuffBurger with lettuce, tomato, house-made pickles, and buff mayo. In addition, you can add cheese or bacon for extra.  You can try a variety of other options such as: chunky guacamole and piquillio pesto; truffle cheese, arugula and truffle aioli; or a smooth goat cheese with roasted tomatoes.

If the beef patties aren’t enough to make you drool, you can choose the Momo with crispy or grilled chicken. Some other options are the Fritter; the seared Ahi Tuna with wasabi tartar sauce; the pickled carrots; or pea sprouts.  They even have a Farmer’s Salad or a Thai Noodle Salad for those who prefer rabbit food. For those looking for dessert, their vanilla shake is tops in my book.  For those who are looking for a more adult beverage choice, they have a rotating selection of top craft beers. They will even do growler refills if you have a one. I think growler refills are one of the greatest inventions for craft beer lovers who believe in living in a sustainable fashion!

Besides their quality burgers, what impressed me most about Buff Burger is how Paul Burden put legs to his dream. He put a lot of thought and work into to bringing great burgers and beer to his customers in a sustainable fashion without compromising on flavor. As a result, BuffBurger is in my regular rotation of favorites.
